1. heat the milk in saucepan with chopped onion, cloves nutmeg peppercorns and bay leaf. bring to boil then simmer for 20 mins approx.
2. turn off the heat and cool sightly
3. strain the liquid into a clean pan and stir in the white breadcrumbs and the butter. cover and simmer for 10-12 mins stirring throughout until the sauce is thick and creamy.
4. add the fromage frais, or creme fraiche and stir well, serve.
